“The President” Makhmalbaf’s most recent film, which is shot in Goergia, will be released in 60 theatres in Paris and other cities of France from 18 of March.
Alongside France, the film simultaneously go on screen in cinema’s across Switzerland.
The President tells the story of a revolution and the collapse of a dictatorship. “The film is inspired by the different revolutions taking place in Iran and middle east during recent years” says Makhmalbaf.
The President, which opened the Orizzonti section of last Venice Film Festival, has won the Golden Hugo for the best film from Chicago Film Festival in America, as well as The Audience Award for the best film from Tokyo FILMeX in Japan and Beirut film Festival in Lebanon.
The Guardian describes the film as follow: “Perhaps even Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s most devoted admirers weren’t expecting his latest film to be quite so absorbing and gripping.”
