This year at the Busan International Film Festival, Hana Makhmalbaf is presenting the world premiere of her new film "The List", whilst Mohsen Makhmalbaf is showcasing the Asian premiere of his latest documentary "Talking with Rivers" at the Wide Angel section of the festival.
The List by Hana Makhmalbaf deals with the aftermath of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, with the director describing her film as a cry for help for humanity.
The documentary Talking with Rivers by Mohsen Makhmalbaf, is a poetic conversation between two neighbouring nations, Iran and Afghanistan, on their parallel and rather adverse history.
Mohsen Makhmalbaf is also delivering a masterclass for the film industry professional filmmakers as part of the Filmmaker's Talk program organised by the Platform BUSAN 2023.
The 28th Busan International Film Festival, which takes place from October 4 to 13 in South Korea, is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
After screening at Busan, Talking with Rivers will continue its festival journey into Europe, and Hana Makhmalbaf will travel to an array of international film festivals already lined up for her new creation, The List.
